Saturday, Dec. 19, 1-6 p.m.
Gather up the kids, friends and neighbors and soak up some Christmas spirit at the 10th annual Huntley Christmas Stroll, Saturday, Dec. 19, from 1 to 6 p.m.
Spirit of the Season
Although the Christmas Stroll is a great time to get to know Huntley merchants, it’s also meant to celebrate “the reason for the season” with your community. A living nativity will be on display in downtown Huntley, weather permitting, with members of Huntley’s United Methodist Church playing the roles. Stop by and take a look, it’s quite moving to see how it all started in the manger.
The “Stroll”
This year the Huntley merchants are borrowing a great idea from the Worden Community Club’s Worden Christmas Stroll. Strollers can pick up a Christmas Stroll Passport at any of 12 participating Huntley businesses. Then they’ll visit each of the merchants to have their Passports validated and sample their treats. The Passports then become an entry to the prize drawings, to be held at 6 p.m. at R & R Trading.
You need not be present for the prize drawings, so feel free to begin and end your stroll at any time between 1 and 6 p.m. Passports must be turned in by 6 p.m. to be eligible for the drawings.
Santa is Coming to Town
Santa will make a visit riding on a fire engine at the Huntley Fire Station at 4:30 p.m. Children are welcome to explain their wish list to Santa and receive a goody bag, courtesy of the Worden Fire Department, and a candy bar courtesy of Pryor Creek Golf Course.
Hayrides, Caroling
Hayrides will be available hourly at Son Rise Espresso courtesy of Valley Baptist Church— caroling is encouraged to spread the Christmas cheer through the streets of Huntley. Bring a blanket and warm clothing!
Depending on the weather, horse drawn wagons may also be available for hayrides in Huntley.
Outdoor MiniMall
Food and craft vendors are welcome to set up their tables outdoors anywhere in Huntley. A variety of vendors will be set up at Son Rise Espresso.
Gingerbread House Contest
Gingerbread house kits are available for this year’s contest from R & R Trading. A $10 refundable deposit is required; bring your finished house in to get your money back. Houses are due on Friday, Dec. 18, at R & R Trading or Parkside Deli. Don’t forget to get your $10 back.
All the houses will be displayed at Parkside Deli during the Stroll, so strollers can vote on their favorites. People’s Choice winners will be announced at R & R Trading at 6 p.m.
Prizes include Huntley Bucks
This year, the list of prizes will include gift certificates from Huntley merchants, fire extinguishers from the Worden Fire Department and Huntley Bucks. The Bucks are like a gift certificate that can be used at any participating business. So far, over $100 Huntley Bucks will be awarded in prizes.
Don’t forget to drop off your completed Passport at R & R Trading by 6 p.m.
Coloring Contest
Yellowstone County News’ annual Christmas Coloring Contest winning entries will be displayed at the Huntley Fire Station during the Stroll.
Prize Drawings
All prizes will be awarded at 6 p.m. at R & R Trading at the end of the stroll. But you need not be present to win. Prize winners will be contacted but the prizes will not be mailed—they must be picked up at R & R Trading by Sunday, Jan. 10.
