Last Saturday, the Huntley Project Boy Basketball Team won the 2014 Southern B Divisional Championship at Metra Park Rimrock Auto Arena in an uphill battle against the Columbus Cougars in a 44-35 victory. The Red Devils knew they had a good game ahead of them as they had already played the Columbus Cougars during the regular season and had won one of the two meetings with then. Districts were about the same as Huntley Project and Columbus were also in the District Championship game where the Cougars won the district championship game over the Red Devils.
The Red Devils were prepared for the next level as they overcame the Cougars in a hard battled game. Not until about 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter did HP start to pull away in an upset win.
Huntley Project started the Divisional tournament with a 43-50 win over Whitehall on Thursday and a 50-44 win over Joliet on Friday.
The state tournament kicks off for Huntley Project playing Malta on Thursday March, 13, 2014 in Bozeman at 1:30 pm.
