WORDEN — A 21 cents per gallon dividend on all gasoline and diesel purchased in 2009 was good news for those attending the Farmers Union Oil Company annual meeting on Wednesday, March 10.
There was also a 16 cent per gallon dividend on all propane purchased during the last year, a $1.19 dividend on lube oil and about $44 per ton on fertilizer purchased from the co-op.
The record dividends will be issued to members of the co-op later this summer.
During the meeting which featured guest speaker Hailey Shipp from the Northern Ag Broadcasting network, who discussed current issues important to agriculture, two incumbent board members, Randy Sian of Pompeys Pillar, and Bill Stephenson of Hysham were re-elected to the board by unanimous ballot.
In addition, a slate of proposed by law changes and one change to the articles of incorporation were presented to the membership and passed handily.
Kirk Marzolf, co-op general manager, said the meeting turnout was good and nearly everyone received door prizes. After a dinner provided by the co-op, and prepared by the Huntley Project cafeteria cooks, the patrons were presented with the 2009 audit report by Devon Bangerter of Hennen and Associates.
“The membership was informed that their cooperative had an excellent year in terms of business performance and financial results,” said Marzolf. “Of course, strong financial results convert to strong dividends to its members.”
The meeting that began at 6:30 p.m. was adjourned about 8:30 p.m.
