Firefighters RETURNED to Active Status

At the special board meeting, board members challenged where it was written that the fire chief can make that change and decide what the new threshold would be, but there is nothing in the department’s bylaws that allows the fire chief to make the change nor does it say anywhere that the old threshold of 10% was even in writing somewhere.  Fire Chief Hackmann told the Yellowstone County News that it was unclear and not written anywhere in writing that anyone can tell so he rescinded his initial decision and put things back to normal.

“My only hope is to make good changes in the fire department and encourage participation among our members for our community we live,” said Hackmann. “It was brought to my attention at the board meeting that I was in the wrong, and there is room for interpreting the bylaws differently.”
