The annual meeting of Huntley Community Club (HCC) began on March 15 when Andrea Drinkwalter, the club’s Vice President, presented a donation of $1,165.00 to the club on behalf of Rhoadside Event Center and Blue Cat Bar & Grill.

Next, long-time Yellowstone County resident, Jesse Gonzales, pitched his idea to install a gazebo in Barkemeyer Park to the HCC board.

Everyone agreed after seeing photos and hearing Gonzales’s story of the gazebo, that it would fit nicely in Barkemeyer Park.

Gonzales provided board members with photos of the gazebo, which would have to be shipped in via freight truck from another area.

He noted, “It doesn’t have steps,” but he explained it does have a ramp designed to allow handicap access and that would suffice as steps as well.

“It looks like it’s got everything a gazebo should have,” one person remarked. The rest of the board and members of the public who attended agreed; they like the idea.

Regarding funding, Gonzales told the board that he can likely get a grant from the local Lion’s Club, of which he is the President, and such grant would cover half of the project’s total cost. He noted his willingness to help set up fundraisers and other events to get the other half. His request of the HCC was for them to provide a way to manage the money and accounting for the project.
