Residents from Worden and beyond showing off their two left feet at the first annual Beef, Beets and Barley Festival, which featured a street dance with music by Stolen Roan.
Worden area residents got a chance to show off their dancing skills at the first annual Beef, Beets and Barley Festival on Saturday, Sept. 24. This event featured a BBQ dinner, agricultural education booths, and several “Montana Made” vendors such as Hoodies for Heroes. A street dance featuring the band Stolen Roan from Miles City immediately followed. An auction led by Brent Kautz was also part of Saturday’s happenings.
The festival was hosted by Community Project Connection (CPC), a local group whose main goal is to “connect projects together,” said group member Marlene Krum. This event was designed to showcase the area’s main agriculture products – beef, beets and barely – near harvest season, said Krum.
Marilyn Roan, a founding member of CPC, said it all got started after a conversation she had with Linda Holmes while spring cleaning the streets. Roan told Holmes, “Worden is declining… I wonder how we can bring some life back to our community?”
