A tragic traffic accident last Friday afternoon sent a teenager to Billings Clinic and took the lives of two 5-year-old children, Hunter and Olivia McCaulou.
At around 2:51 pm on June 3, a teenager on a side-by-side Kawasaki ATV was heading north on Hofferber Road with two passengers – reportedly younger siblings – when they collided with a Subaru Legacy that was driving westbound on Shepherd Acton Road. The Subaru crashed head-on into the side of the ATV, spinning it into an irrigation ditch where it came to a halt. The Subaru eventually rested on Shepherd-Acton Road.
The driver of the Kawasaki ATV was taken to Billings Clinic for injuries; however, both McCaulos children were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Subaru Legacy, an 18-year-old female, was also injured.
Several members of the community have set up ways to help the families affected. A meal train was set up, and can be found at https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/n15g06 .
The Beanery Coffee Co. stated they are “splitting a fundraising effort between both families” by matching all tips received for the remainder of June. Readers may donate by stopping at The Beanery located in Huntley at 90 Northern Ave.
