HUNTLEY – A new arena on Northern Avenue across from the Blue Cat Bar in Huntley will soon be home to weekend team roping events.

Pam Gable is organizing a series of weekend roping events that begin this Saturday, May 2 and continue through September.

“I would expect it would be locals,” Gable said this week. In past year’s the Blue Cat has hosted ropings on July Fourth, she said, but this year they decided to expand into a season of steer roping events.

“It’s something we just decided to try,” she said. Dennis and Pat Tryan are supplying the steers.

The arena built this week will include lights and everyone is welcome to come check it out. Ropers can come to one event or the entire season, but there’s no need to sign up in advance.

“People who rope know if there’s a roping, show up,” Gable said. There will be time set aside for registration before each event.

Information about the ropings is on line at www.wranglertrc.com. The schedule includes May 2 and 15, June 6-7 and June 26, July 4-5 and July 21, Aug. 14, 21 and 28 and Sept. 19-20.
