Lockwood residents, businesses, students, property owners and anyone else associated with Lockwood are trying to reach 300+ people to a single community meeting on Oct 24th at 7pm at Lockwood School Sturdevant gym. The 300+ campaign was a result of low attendance at a Yellowstone County Commissioner’s meeting that took place on Sept 26 where 22 voting people participated in a “on the spot” poll of members present directing the County Commissioners in the creation of a Lighting & sidewalk district. As the aforementioned meeting was the second of meetings, the overall feedback was go ahead with the ballot to let the voters decide. The county commissioners decided to go ahead with the ballot as soon as possible. However, as it is too late for the county commissioners to put the vote to the Lockwood residents this fall, it is said that the election will be held in the early Spring.
Meanwhile, Lockwood residents have asked that the community unite and attend an informational final report by MEDA (Montana Economic Development Association) experts who toured Lockwood for two days listening to the community. The community is hoping to get 300+ people to this meeting. It is said that this could possibly be the largest community gathering in Lockwood and are asking everyone to be present. Originally, the meting was planned for the Lockwood Middle School Commons area but if the desired amount of 300+ attend, it will burst at the seems for the location. So the meeting was moved to Surdevant Gym, which is located next the Eileen Johnson Middle School, in order to hold the desired amount of people.
