A previous landmark that had been located by the old high school and the modular classroom campus has been restored. Approximately three years ago, the HP sign was knocked down and damaged.
Since then, it has been sitting in the shop taking up room. When I started teaching this year at Huntley Project Schools, one of my first goals was to get the sign repaired, painted and back outside. Mr. Hollowell was over one day and pointed out that I had a student, Eric Albrecht, in my Small Engines Class that was very artistic.
We asked Eric if he would be interested in repainting the HP sign for us. Eric took over the project immediately. After 10 hours of sanding and painting, the sign was restored.
We moved it out of the shop and thanks to Scott Gierke and his crew an extension pipe was welded on and the HP sign was put up next to the Multipurpose Building.
Eric has also been busy painting new HP signs on the floor in the CTE building. He has three painted so far and has four more to paint. Again, I want to thank Eric and the Facilities and Maintenance Crews for helping out.
Way to go Eric Albrecht!!
