WORDEN – The Worden Ballantine Yellowstone County Water and Sewer District had to put the Yellowstone Avenue sewer replacement on hold again, because of changes on Carol McClain’s release form. McClain’s garage is located on the district’s sewer line. The district has tried for months to reach an agreement with McClain in order to proceed with the long needed sewer replacement.
“At our last meeting, I thought we had this agreement ready to be signed and we could move forward with our sewer project,” said vice president David Steiner. “As it stands now we are making minor changes as requested by McClain and her attorney.”
“Hopefully, we can get this taken care of soon,” he added.
“I had Springline Construction ready to begin digging next week,” said Operator Dick Miller. “Now is the time to get this completed,” he added.
Miller reported he had pump problems at the lift station and discovered grade sticks were stuck in the system. He and member Don Dvorak were able to take care of the problem and everything is working fine.
Past president Sandy Kust attended the meeting to report on the re-submitting of water rights for the district. Kust now works full time for the Midwest Assistance Program and also helps the district with any problems.
“All water rights are being challenged and I will submit this to Helena,” said Kust. She also reported the Department of Environmental Quality ground water rule has already been completed and the paper work has been sent in. Kust reported she will be working with Miller on the water source protection plan.
The board accepted a bid from Ben Langton of $510 on the old generator the district has had for sale for quite some time. Miller said he would contact Langton and check the generator.
The new sidewalk, property clean-up and fencing is completed at the district’s office. The board is happy with the completion.
At future meetings, the board will be reviewing connect and disconnect fees and enforcing the 90-day past due accounts.
The district’s annual meeting is scheduled for February (date not yet set).
Election of officers will be at the board’s next meeting scheduled for Wednesday, Jan.13, at 6:30 p.m.
